Our first stop was Rome's "Fountain of Youth," a.k.a. the Trevi Fountain. The monument "depicts Triton taming Oceanus' shell-shaped chariot drawn by sea horses" and tradition holds that if you throw a coin into the fountain (over your shoulder with you back to the water) you will one day return to Rome!
Fun Fact: An estimated 3,000 EUR is collected a day in the fountain and given to charity.
"Dedicated to the worship of every god (Pan-every Theon-divinity), the Pantheon was built by the Emperor Hadrian between 118 and 125 A.D. over the ruins of another chapel dating back to 27 A.D." It is famous for it's 9-metre oculus at the very top of the dome and houses the tombs of several Italian kings and renowned Renaissance artist Raffaello Sanzio da Urbino (Raphael). **Modest dress is required**
By then, it was about time for the Colosseum to open so we hit the road again!
