Oostend, Belgium

My husband planned a little getaway for us for us while Grandma was in town...we spent a wonderful few days in Belgium exploring and relaxing in Oostend and Brugge!

We got into Oostend in the late afternoon (it is about a 4-hr. drive from us).  Once we got to our amazing apartment overlooking the Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, we headed to a nearby restaurant to taste-test some Belgium beer and have dinner!

Our waiter at dinner was fantastic.  He was friendly and funny and kept us with an endless supply of local beverages (each in it's own special glass)!  We found the best beer we have ever tasted there (it's only made in this area, and we haven't found it anywhere else, so we are bound and determined to make it back there for at least one more glass before we leave Europe) - Keyte.  Seriously, you have to try it...AMAZING!

After dinner we walked around downtown and found a local casino, Casino-Kursaal Oostende...roulette anyone?!  You have to have your passport to get a "temporary membership" to play but admission is free and you also get free snacks and soft drinks.  We didn't stay very long but it was nice betting on some "Black 22!"  We even got to see the sunset over the ocean on our way there!

Tommorrow we head into Brugge!
