Ramstein, Germany (Wendelinusmarkt)

Had a fun afternoon in Ramstein-Misenbach checking out the local Wendelinus market!  This is one of the larger festivals in Ramstein, with over 140+ vendors and craftsmen presenting their wares.  In addition to all the local vendors, there was also an international arts and crafts area and French market with lots of imported goodies!

"The history of the Wendelinusmarkt dates back to the beginning of the 18th century when the village residents were farmers and an epidemic threatened Ramstein's cattle.  People started praying to St. Wendelinus, the saint of plague, who was asked to help in cases of contagious disease.  They promised to celebrate the day of Saint Wendelinus each year if the epidemic would end."

This is good to know, because if you didn't, you would find the blessing of animals very odd!  (No picture of that, sorry).

Heading home!

Another fun day for the record books!
