Bernkastel Kues, Germany (Christmas Market)

Just got back from an impromptu girl's trip with my friend, Maria!

We took our littlest ones to Bernkastel Kues to sip on some gluhwein and check out their Christmas market.  The village is located on the Mosel River and is about the cutest darn thing I have ever seen in my life!

The Christmas market was held in the downtown area near the Mittelalterlicher Marktplatz.  Parking was easy to find along the river as we drove into town and there were tons of shops, wineries and restaurants along the way!  We got there around 11am which was a little early for the market.  (It was supposed to start then, but a lot of the vendors did not open until after noon).

We ended up eating at in an indoor (hint, heated) pizza place in the middle of the market.  Afterward, more vendors had opened up shop, so we walked around and let the girl's lead the way.

CREEPY!

We ended our trip with some goodies from the sweetest, German lady selling macaroons near where we parked.

It was a wonderful little day trip (I think we were gone a total of 5 hrs, with travel) and we both would really like to go back again!  I'd especially like to go back and see "Dr. Loosen" who is said to be the wine man in the region.  He won Wine of the Year in 2005 and has one of the 50 most influential wineries in the world!

Has anyone tried Dr. L's wines?  What is your favorite winery in Europe?
Christmas Market?
