Kaiserslautern, Germany (Burgruine Hohenecken)

Went with our friends on a "hike" up to the Hohenecken castle ruins in Kaiserslautern today.  The kids had a blast pretending to "storm Bowser's castle!"

We actually parked at the St. Rochus church (thanks to the tip from Laura at TravelsforFun!), since we had the kiddos and the weather was being finicky.  There are longer trails you can do but this was the perfect "hike" for our little ones.

All bundled up!

View from the top of the ruins

"Look Mom, it's the Spooky Old Tree!"

Afterwards we went to Bombay, our favorite Indian restaurant, to warm up with some yummy food!  I  recommend the Chicken Tiki Masala (they already know to make mine extra spicy, love them), Peshawari Naan, and Mango Lassie!

Another wonderful day making some memories with dear friends!

  1. This brought back many memories of hiking up to Hohenecken when I was a child! We lived in KTown from 1957-1960-My father was stationed there. All of us kids would play up there-there were no barriers back then. On the way home we would stop at the village candy store and get honey suckers for a Pfennig. Good times!
