Hanau, Germany (Schloss Philippsruhe)

Took a quick day trip to Hanau to see the baroque palace, Schloss Phillppsruhe.

The two-story main building, or corps de logis, is flanked by two one-story wings on each side.  Schloss Phillppsruhe is one of the most important architectural and cultural monuments in Hessen. It's location on the banks of the river Main, the large park behind the castle, the museum, the fairy tale festival and the restaurant terrace make the palace a favourite destination for locals and visitors from all over Hessen, Germany, and the world"

I didn't get a lot of photos (camera battery was dying) but the palace was fun.  We liked that you can just purchase an English guide book at the entrance and explore the palace on your own.  The museum was cool with all the crazy (and sometimes scary) art work, tiled stoves, and chandeliers.

There is also a nice little cafe and a papiertheater (paper theater) inside the museum.  The kids enjoyed seeing the different paper displays and you can even watch a performance.  The gardens were also very impressive...we even stumbled upon a wedding while we were there!

We stopped in downtown Hanau on the way out for some lunch and for a photo op in front of the Grimm Brother's statue.  It was a nice way to spend the afternoon!
