Gran Canaria, Spain

We booked an amazing all-inclusive trip to the Canary Islands for 4th of July weekend through Mit-Reisen Travel Agency!  We highly recommend using them for quick getaways and they are always having amazing deals on their Facebook page. The staff is also super-friendly and easy to get in contact with!

Our package was for 5 days and 4 nights at a 4-star hotel (Paradise Valle Taurito) with all meals and drinks (alcoholic and nonalcoholic) included.  We also had free access to the water park in front of the resort!  All that and airfare for four people came to just 1,256 EUR.

We ended up renting a car to get us from the airport to the resort (we did not book the agency's transfer in time).  However, it ended up being about the same price (around 100 EUR) and we had a car during our stay, so it was worth it for us.  Driving was fairly easy and the roads were somewhat simple to figure out (the rental car agent just told us to follow the blue line, lol!)  Just be sure to obey all speed limits...when we got home we found out that we were tagged by a speed camera and had to pay a 60 EUR fine!  Hmm...maybe we should have gotten the transfer, lol!

The resort was awesome; it was very clean and the people were so friendly!  We did get tired of the food towards the end of our stay.  It was very "European" (and, not in a bad way, I just have a few picky eaters in my family).  They did offer some sort of pizza, pasta, and salad bar in addition to the daily special on the main buffet., but it just got old.

We ended up going into a port town one night for dinner just to change things up and I have it say the food was amazing!  Almost as amazing as the scenery on the drive over!

Each night they had a "party" outside (for both kids and adults).  We would go down for the kids party after dinner and then head back up to our room when the kids got tired.  We lucked out with a balcony facing the water park/entertainment area so we were able to see the adult shows from our room while we I sipped on umbrella drinks!

We also went down to the carnival one afternoon and let the kids "bungee jump" on trampolines!  They loved it!

The beach area was somewhat small but the kids had more fun in the warmer water in the pool.  We rented a paddle boat with a slide one afternoon and went out on the water but the kids were too scared/cold to get in it much (and it was very windy and choppy so our legs were more than ready to come back in)!

The next day we took a catamaran excursion on the "Supercat" to the Bay of Gui Gui to see the island's cliff formations, coves, and beaches!  You can find the itinerary HERE.  We highly recommend it!

We were allowed to go fishing off the boat and our little guy caught a fish off the coast of Spain (how cool is that?!).  We also got to ride banana boats on the way there and have a BBQ on-board the boat!

It was an amazing trip and we were not ready to come home!  It was also so nice to be able to go on a trip and not have to plan anything...we will definitely be using Mit-Reisen again!
